Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Volleyball Team fell to
5-12 on the season as they lost to New Jersey City University
on Monday evening by a 25-15, 26-24, 25-13 score. The
Gothic Knights improve to 9-11 with the victory.
The Bulldogs hoped that some home cooking would change the outcome
in their second meeting with NJCU this season, however a slow start
did not help their cause as Brooklyn dropped the first set
25-15.
Brooklyn did not help their cause as they put on their worst
hitting performance of the evening, posting a
-.154 percentage, while their opponent, who also was somewhat
sluggish early, connected for a .200 percentage.
The second set was the most closely contested of the evening as
the Bulldogs came back from an early deficit to take a 21-18
lead. NJCU Head Coach Carlo Edra wisely called a timeout,
helping his team to regain control and take 8 of the next 11 points
and win the set, 26-24.
The third set saw Brooklyn with only four attack errors, but they
hurt themselves with six service errors, leading to an easy victory
for the Gothic Knights.
NJCU's Michal Kucza led both teams with 13 kills, while teammate
Jorge Rodriguez notched a match-high 27 assists.
BC was led by Alexander
Shlivko's 12 kills, while Gene
Tom handed out a team-high 15 assists. Timothy
Hui led all with 14 digs, while David
Choy chipped in with eight kills.
Brooklyn will head back out to City College of New York, the site
of this past weekend's multi-match, for a big showdown with
their CUNYAC counterpart, the CCNY Beavers.
