CCNY Beats City Tech in Three

The City College of New York men’s volleyball team (3-9
Overall, 3-2 CUNYAC) picked up another impressive win and improved
to 2-0 at home this season as the Beavers turned back the Yellow
Jackets of New York City College of Technology (0-4 Overall, 0-4
CUNYAC) by scores of 25-17, 25-14, and 25-11 Tuesday evening at the
Nat Holman Gymnasium in Upper Manhattan.
City College worked together as a team all evening long, as the squad hit .387 on the night while recording a team total of 29 assists. City Tech struggled to find rhythm and hit negative on the evening (-.060). Leading the way in the win for the Beavers was Matthew Ng, as he hit .478 and finished with a match-high 14 kills to go along with three digs and two service aces. Nicholas Siriban had nine kills and a pair of digs, and Derel Williams added six kills.
Despite the loss for the Yellow Jackets, it was Alphonso Roderick putting forth a nice effort with a team-high seven kills on the night to go along with two solo blocks. Jacob Ramroop added 10 assists in a losing cause as well.
The Beavers will return to action on Thursday evening as the team travels to Hunter College for a battle with the Hawks. Start-time is scheduled for 6:00pm.
