CCNY Drops NYU-Poly, 3-0

Box Score

The City College of New York men’s volleyball team (10-16 Overall, 7-6 CUNYAC) won for the sixth time in their last eight tries, defeating the Fighting Blue Jays (5-14 Overall, 2-4 Skyline) by scores of 25-20, 25-20, and 25-21 Thursday evening in the Beavers’ regular season home finale. CCNY may have one more match on their home floor – a possible CUNYAC quarterfinal round contest on March 22nd, but that is still to-be-determined.

The night belonged to the Beavers, who have been red-hot in recent weeks. Nick Siriban had himself a breakout-match, pacing his squad with a match-high 15 kills while hitting .520 on the evening and contributing six assists, three digs, and three total blocks. The consistent Matthew Ng added 11 kills and six digs, and Brian Yik Lim had his prototypical solid night, adding a match-high 26 assists to go along with four digs.

CCNY hit .301 on the evening compared to just .178 for NYU-Polytechnic.

Despite the loss for the Fighting Blue Jays, it was Fild Kroqi contributing with a team-high 13 kills to go along with 10 digs, and James Lukban had himself a nice all-around night with 12 kills, 10 assists, and two service aces.

The Beavers will return to action on Tuesday evening as the team travels to Lehman College for a conference contest with the Lightning. Start-time is scheduled for 7:30pm.
