Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College Soaring Eagles
Men’s Volleyball team took the court Monday night looking to
add another UVC victory to their record against the Spartans of
D’Youville College.
The teams split the first two sets of the match, but it was the
Spartans that rallied to take the final two sets and the conference
match, 3-1 (25-17, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21). The loss moves
Elmira’s overall record to 4-8 this season and 1-3 in UVC
play.
Elmira College was led in the match by Eric Sandmann ’14
(Glenville, NY -- Burnt Hills) and Ryan Gelenitis ’14 (Brick,
NJ -- Christian Brothers Academy). Sandmann totaled 13 kills and 9
digs for EC, while Gelenitis registered 10 kills and 7 digs.
Defensive specialist Brayden Abbey ’14 (Sparta, NJ -- Pope
John XXIII) led the team in digs with 11 for the Purple and
Gold.
EC looks to rebound from the loss this Saturday as the team
travels to Hilbert College for a match at 1:00 p.m.
