EMU Rolls Over Lancaster Bible, 3-0
The Eastern Mennonite men's volleyball team hosted Lancaster
Bible College Thursday night in Harrisonburg and the Royals made
quick work of their NECVA Metro Division rivals in a 3-0 sweep. EMU
moves to 2-0 in Metro play as they kick off a string of five
straight conference matches.
The Royals took over early in the contest, taking a 25-15 victory in game one. Coach Steve Benson took the opportunity to rest some of his players and give others some playing time, and EMU finished off with 25-17 and 25-16 wins.
Augusto Lau (Miami, Fl./Coral Reef) set the final games and racked up a match high 26 assists. Nolan Prock (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox) led all players with 15 kills and tied for the high with eight digs.
Chris Moise (Hollywood, Fl./South Broward) added eight digs and six kills before sitting early in the third set. Frankie Coto (Miami, Fl./Southwest Miami) had eight kills and a pair of blocks.
Freshman Derek Sauder (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley) added six digs.
Eastern Mennonite moves to 3-4 with the win. The men play a pair of Metro games on the road this weekend, taking on Kean Saturday morning at 10:00am and then New Jersey City Sunday at 1:00pm.
