#8 Mavs Cruise Past Hilbert; Remain Unbeaten
(Buffalo, NY) – The 8th ranked Medaille College men’s volleyball team ran their winning streak to nine games as they cruised past crosstown rival Hilbert College (3-0); (25-20; 25-13, 25-17) this evening at the Sullivan Center. The Mavs used a variety of lineups and precise hitting en route to the victory.
Sophomore Erin Kelly (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes)(pictured) led the charge as he pounded out (9) kills on (12) attempts with just one error. Fellow sophomore Aaron Woomer (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) guided the Maverick offense with (17) assists, while senior Ryan Maxwell (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) dished out six assists of his own on a night with a lighter workload.
Freshman Trevor Barrett (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) showed why he is the UVC Rookie of the Week as he put down (6) kills while committing just one error. Senior Dan Jackson (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) began the match as the libero but moved to the outside shortly into play. He finished the match with (4) kills, (4) digs, and a block.
The Mavs improve to (9-0) on the season and they will prepare for perennial national power UC-Santa Cruz whom they face on Friday (2/11) at 4:00pm in the Golden Flyer Invitational hosted by Nazareth College.
