#9 Mavs Win Ninth Straight; Upend Spartans
(Buffalo, NY) – The 9th ranked Medaille College men’s volleyball team swept their season series with crosstown rival D’Youville College (3-1); (25-20, 17-25, 25-13, 25-23) in their final non-conference regular season tilt of the season. The Mavs are on a hot streak, winning nine straight, and ten of their last eleven.
The Mavs were led by Nick Johnson (Buffalo, NY/Canisius)(pictured) who crushed a match high (21) kills while hitting at a (.368) clip. Teammate Erin Kelly (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) was nearly as precise with his hitting at (.364), finishing with (17) kills.
A pair of seniors also contributed in the key victory as Ryan Maxwell (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) finished with (36) assists and (7) digs while Dan Jackson (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) led all players with (15) digs. Jackson moves over the (1,200) dig plateau as he now has (1,214) digs in his stellar career.
The Mavs ninth straight victory pushes them to (19-4) on the season and they will head to Hilbert College tomorrow (3/18) for a 7:00pm UVC Divisional match-up.
