Mavs Drop Five Setter in Divisional Playoffs

(Rochester, NY) – Second seeded and 9th ranked Medaille College saw its eleven match win streak snapped in the opening round of the UVC Tournament when they dropped a thrilling five set match to #15 SUNY New Paltz (3-2); (22-25, 27-25, 15-25, 26-24, 15-10).  The loss ends their hopes of a divisional title.

Freshman Trevor Barrett (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home)(pictured) made his return after a long layoff and shared the team lead with (13) kills while hitting at a (.292) clip with five blocks.  Sophomore Erin Kelly (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) also poundedout (13) kills but hit with more precision at (.476).  Senior setter Ryan Maxwell (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) guided the Maverick offense with (42) assists and came up with a team high (7) digs.

The Mavs fall to (21-5) on the season as they head into the NECVA Tournament which begins next weekend.  That tournament bracket will be released Monday morning.
