Nazareth sweeps Elmira

Wells-Spicer had 44 assists as Nazareth swept visiting
Elmira in three men's volleyball sets Wednesday at the Kidera
Gymnasium. Scores were 25-21, 25-13, 29-27.
Nazareth, ranked second nationally in Division III, won its eighth
straight match and improved to 17-3 overall. Elmira, in its first
season of men's volleyball, dropped to 5-15.
Six of Schroeder's kills and 19 of Wells-Spicer's assists came in
the third set as Nazareth held off a late charge from the Soaring
Eagles. Nazareth trailed 26-25, then closed out the set and the
match by scoring four of the last five points. Sophomore Robert
Kraft had two kills and delivered the match point on a
service ace.

Ribec, Ellis
Walsh and Will
Siwy combined for 21 kills and just three hitting errors
in 28 attempts and Nazareth hit .388 overall as a team,
Elmira was led by Ryan Gelenitis' 10 kills and 22 assists from
Michael Vellutato.
Nazareth plays three matches this weekend at the United
Volleyball Conference crossover at Vassar. Nazareth plays
15th-ranked New Paltz Saturday at 3 p.m., the SUNYIT Sunday at 10
a.m. and Vassar at 2 p.m.
