Newbury Soars Past Lesley
The Newbury College Men's Volleyball team defeated visiting
Lesley University tonight 3-0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-19), in Brookline,
MA. The Nighthawks were led by junior outside hitter,
Tim Anderson (Plaistow, N.H./Timberland Regional)
with 8 kills and senior setter Matt Talamantes (Los
Angeles, CA/Viewpoint) with 3 kills and 14 assists.
Newbury jumped out to the early 2-0 and never looked back.
Freshman setter Patrick Robidoux (Barrington,
R.I./Barrington) played solid in the victory compiling two
kills and 12 assists.
The Lynx made a valiant comeback in the third set, jumping out in
front to begin game. Lesley held a slim one-point advantage mid-way
through the set but the Nighthawks pulled it together to finish the
game with a 6 point victory.
Despite the loss, the Lynx received a solid performance from both
Christian Domingo (Los Angeles, CA/College of
Canyons) and who finished the match with three kills and
Stephen Siragusa (Valley Stream, N.Y./ Valley
Stream).
The Nighthawks improve their overall record to 5-5 (1-1 in the
NECC) while Lesley falls to 0-9 overall and (0-3 in the NECC)
Newbury will return to action on Monday February 7 when they will
take on the Lasell College Lasers at 7:00pm.
