Brubaker Notches 2,000th Kill in Home Win

LANGHORNE, PA - Senior Justin Brubaker joined an elite
club Tuesday evening against New Jersey City University. The
fourth-year outside hitter recorded his 2,000th career spike during
a 3-0 sweep over the visiting Gothic Knights, becoming just the
third player in NECVA history to reach the plateau.
Entering the contest with 1,999 career kills, the reigning NECVA
Player of the Week drilled his historic slam less than two minutes
into action, helping give PBU a 3-1 edge to open up the first set.
The Crimson Eagles would go on to secure the opening rally
handedly, winning 25-10.
The host squad polished off NJCU during sets two and three by
similar 25-21 scores, extending their consecutive home winning
streak to 16 straight. The Crimson Eagles manufactured their
highest hitting percentage of the year in the win, carving up
NJCU's defense with a .333 hitting clip.
PBU also tied a season high by dishing up nine service aces -
including four alone from Brubaker - while owning a 72.2 sideout
percentage over the three stanzas. The triumph keeps PBU atop the
Metro standings with a 3-0 mark in the conference while the Gothic
Knights slip to 0-3 in league play.
The Crimson Eagles' defense was impressive as the host squad held
NJCU to a .090 attack mark while limiting the visitors to just 23
total kills for the match.
Playing only two sets, Brubaker finished with only eight kills - a
season low - but added six digs and four assists in limited
minutes. Josh Tuttle added eight kills and Oliver Good handed out
26 helpers.
Following their three game homestand, the Crimson Eagles will grab
their travel bags for a date with Lancaster Bible College on
Thursday at 7:00 pm.
