Gators cap regular-season with 3-0 win over Yeshiva
Albany, NY---- The Sage Colleges men's volleyball team hosted Yeshiva University on Thursday evening in the Kahl Center in the final regular-season contest of the 2011 season. The Gators tallied a 3-0 win over the Maccabees of Yeshiva, 25-13, 25-12, 25-8. The Gators finish the regular-season campaign with a 14-11 overall record and a 7-3 effort in conference action in just their second season of varsity play. Yeshiva drops to 10-11 overall and 1-9 in the league.
Sage's season continues with the 2011 Skyline Conference Tournament on March 27. Seeded third, Sage will face No. 2 seeded the College of Mt. Saint Vincent at 1:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to the championship match at 5 p.m.
Leading the way for the Gators was sophomore Jeremy Mosch (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) with 10 kills, four aces and a pair of blocks. Rookie libero Matt Bynon (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills) led Sage with 11 digs, while freshman Cory Gransbury (Round Top, NY/Cairo-Durham) added five digs with eight setting assists.
Yeshiva's senior middle back Samuel Mond (Miami Beach, FL/RASG) had six kills and seven digs, while junior outside hitter Jared Rechnitz (Los Angeles, CA/YULA) added four kills with two digs.
In just two short seasons, the Gators have earned back-to-back Skyline Conference Tournament appearances, doubled their win totals from the first season (14 from 5 overall) and Skyline Conference (7 from 3) and are ranked both individually and as a team in the national Division III statistics.
