Niles' 17 Kills Propels York to Win over Medgar Evers

BROOKLYN, NY— Senior Alex
Niles recorded 17 kills and a .520 hitting percentage,
while blocking three shots to lead the York College men's
volleyball team to its fourth straight victory, a 3-0 (25-23,
25-14, 25-20) triumph over Medgar Evers College Tuesday
evening.
Niles has been on fire lately tallying 32 kills with just six hitting errors (.591) and nine blocks in his past three matches. York now stands at 5-2, following a 1-2 start, and are 1-0 in conference play.
Also contributing for York was reigning CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, Ahmed Helmi who slammed ten kills and served up four aces. Freshman Terrence Sutton picked up six kills and five digs, while junior setter Kenan Kajtezovic registered 31 assists.
Medgar Evers (0-2, 0-1 CUNYAC) was led by Jamal Baptiste who finished with seven kills.
York will return to action on Friday when they host New Jersey City University at 8:00 p.m.
