Agnes Scott Hires New Volleyball Coach

ATLANTA – Agnes Scott College Athletic Director Joeleen Akin announced that Catherine Geerlings has been named the new head volleyball coach for the Scotties. Geerlings officially began her duties on August 2nd.
“Coach Geerlings brings a wide range of experience
to our program, having played, coached, officiated and been a true
ambassador of the game of volleyball over a long period of
time,” Akin said. “We are extremely excited to
have her join the Scottie family.”
Geerlings comes to Agnes Scott most recently from Trinity
Christian School in Sharpsburg, Ga. During her two years as head
coach, Geerlings transitioned the volleyball program into the
Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) and coached two
all-region players.
As a four-year player at Southwestern University,
Geerlings’ teams made four consecutive NAIA National
Tournament appearances and finished in the top five of the
tournament each year.
During her senior year at Southwestern, Geerlings was named team captain and was an NAIA All-Region setter and the District 4 Setter of the Year. She went on to play over ten years on USA Volleyball traveling teams. She has also coached at the club level in Georgia.
Geerlings, along with her husband Greg and daughters Jessica, Cady and Claire live in Peachtree City, Ga.
