Austin College Remains Unbeaten With 3-0 Win

The Austin College volleyball team remained unbeaten to start the 2010 season with a 3-0 win over visiting Mid-America Christian University on Thursday night in Hughey Gymnasium. The ’Roos improve to 6-0 on the year with the victory.
Austin College won by scores of 25-23, 25-22, 25-21 thanks in large part to the strong play of Jessica Fleming and Jordan Anderton, who led the way with 18 kills and 39 assists respectively. Fleming, who currently leads the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in kills-per-set, registered her 18 kills in 28 attempts while Anderton, who leads the SCAC in assists, also added four digs and a service ace. Jenna Wilson added nine digs and nine kills, Shelby Eaves had seven kills and Quinn McKee had a team-best 16 digs in the match.
Tomorrow marks the start of the 15th Annual Austin College Classic as the ’Roos play host to nine teams in the two day event. The tournament starts at 12:00 p.m. tomorrow in both Hughey and Sid Richardson gymnasiums, and the ’Roos will square off against Mary Hardin-Baylor at 4:00 p.m. and Hardin-Simmons at 8:00 p.m.
Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
