Bethany Lutheran hires new volleyball coach
Story by Julie Thomas
MANKATO, Minn.—Bethany Lutheran College named Sue Forrey as
its Head Volleyball Coach effective immediately, replacing Mike
Walters who resigned last week due to a promotion at his full time
job.
An assistant with Bethany last season, Forrey has numerous years
of head coaching experience. From 2002-08 Forrey served as head
coach and director of the Eagles Junior Olympic program in Mankato,
Minn., where she built the organization from one team to five in
her six-year tenure. Before joining Bethany, Forrey coached three
seasons of high school volleyball from 2006-08 at Mankato Loyola
Catholic School. She is also a member of the American Volleyball
Coaches Association.
“I know that Sue Forrey understands the mission and focus of
Bethany and gives our volleyball program the best chance for
success going into the future,” Bethany Athletic Director
Karl Fager said. “She has been working hard on the recruiting
trail and with this promotion should be able to solidify some of
the area volleyball players she has been talking to.”
