#7 Carthage Opens 2010 With Wins Over St. Benedict and #13 Wis. Eau Claire

Eau Claire, Wis. The Carthage College women’s volleyball team (2-0), ranked seventh in the pre-season American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, opened its 2010 season on Friday, Sept. 3 with a pair of wins at the Wisconsin-Eau Claire “Labor Day Classic” at the McPhee Physical Education Center in La Crosse, Wis. Carthage swept No. 28 College of St. Benedict (0-1), 3-0, before defeating the No. 13 and host-Blugolds (1-1) by a 3-1 margin. The Lady Reds’ winning set scores over St. Benedict were 25-15, 25-15 and 25-15, and their winning scores over UW-Eau Claire were 26-24, 25-23, 19-25 and 25-23. On Saturday, Sept. 4, Carthage takes on Concordia College (Moorhead) at 12:15 p.m. and Northwestern College at 2:30 p.m.
