Keuka Upset by Penn State-Berks in NEAC Tourney

The top seeded Storm came within a few points of playing in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament Championship before falling to the #2 seeded Nittany Lions of Penn State-Berks by a score of 3-2 in the semifinals on Saturday.
Keuka ends its season at 18-10 overall while Berks improves to 25-8 and will now face Gallaudet University in the championship match.
The Storm started off by winning set one 25-18 and held a lead late in set two before dropping it 23-25. Keuka then won set three 25-22 and again lost a late lead to drop the fourth set 23-25. The Nittany Lions took complete control of the fifth set and won 15-8. Keuka ended with an attack percentage of .242 with 55 kills while Berks had 52 kills and a .171 attack percentage.
Senior outside hitters Morgan Engelbert (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison) and Raelle Naegely (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek) combined for 30 of the team’s kills with 16 and 14, respectively. Naegely added eight digs and two aces.
Fellow senior Sarah Fredricks (Milton, Ontario/E.C. Drury) chipped in with nine kills while classmate Katy Geers (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) passed off a match-high 44 assists to go with her two aces. Junior libero Hannah Doody (Tully, N.Y./Tully) led Keuka with 17 digs.
