Millikin clinches CCIW volleyball title

DECATUR, Ill. – Millikin won its first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) volleyball title since 1999 on Tuesday night.
The Big Blue defeated Augustana, 3-1 (22-25, 25-15, 25-10, 25-17), to finish 7-0 in conference play and win the title outright.
Millikin ended Carthage’s 49-match conference winning streak on the road last Wednesday in a 3-2 victory over the Lady Reds. That win clinched Millikin the No. 1 seed for the CCIW’s play-in round on November 2, which determines the four teams who will compete in the conference volleyball tournament, held November 5-6.
Carthage, who had won at least a share of the conference title in each of the last six seasons, had not lost a CCIW match since 2003 before falling to the Big Blue.
