#12 Oles defeat Fifth Seed Saint Benedict 3-2 in MIAC Playoffs Semifinals

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Kim Smisek had 20 kills and 12 digs as No.
12 St. Olaf beat #5 Saint Benedict 25-17, 22-25, 25-23, 18-25 and
15-8 in the MIAC Playoffs Semifinals on Thursday evening at
Skoglund Center.
St. Olaf jumped to a 8-5 lead in the decisive fifth set and
cruised to a 15-8 victory for the win.
Ariel Carlson added 13 kills and hit .267 in the win, while Kelly
Prunty had 53 assists.
Calleigh Brown and Kayli Schumacher led the Blazers in kills with
19 and 15, while Kathryn Gaydos had 48 assists for the team.
After winning the first set, St. Olaf (25-7, 11-1 MIAC) lost the
second 22-25 as Saint Ben's went on to tie the match at one set
apiece.
The Oles rallied to a 9-3 start and won the third set, but the
Blazers (18-12, 6-6 MIAC) rebounded to even the match with a 25-18
win in the fourth.
St. Olaf hosts St. Thomas on Saturday at 7 pm at Skoglund
Center.
