Otterbein Tops Marietta for Tenth-Straight Win

WESTERVILLE, OHIO - Otterbein (21-4, 6-1 OAC) blew past visiting
Marietta (8-17, 1-5 OAC) in three sets Tuesday evening to push its
winning streak to ten matches.
In addition, the victory gives the Cards their sixth
consecutive conference victory after opening OAC play
with a five-set loss to league-leader Heidelberg.
Otterbein jumped ahead early in game one only to see the Pioneers
rally back and take a slim lead. The Cards regrouped and
eventually went on to win game one 25-22.
Junior libero Lindsey Russell had 16 digs in the opening set.
The Cardinals stepped up the intensity during game two, hopping
out to an 18-6 lead before winning 25-9.
Otterbein remained in control and took game three, 25-15, securing
the 21st victory this fall and inching closer to the 24-win mark it
set last season.
Sophomore Ally Nagle hit .381 for the match, recording ten kills
and just two errors on 21 chances.
Rayna Coleman and Liz Palmer each chipped in five kills for
the Tan and Cardinal while Annie Juenger and Kelly Montgomery
totaled four a piece.
Russell finished with 26 digs while Juneger had 18. Sophomore
setter Lydia Wynkoop dished out a game-high 19 assists.
Kathryn Hanssen notched seven kills on 17 opportunities for
Marietta, while libero Jen Braun came up with 23 digs.
Otterbein travels to Ohio Wesleyan this coming Saturday for a
tri-match, opening against Hiram at 3 p.m. before taking on host
OWU at 5 p.m.
