#16 St Olaf beats #14 St Thomas in MIAC Play

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Kim Smisek had 24 kills and 15 digs as the 16th-ranked St. Olaf volleyball team beat No. 14 St. Thomas 25-17, 25-22, 23-25 and 25-22 in the MIAC opener for each team.

The Oles (6-3, 1-0 MIAC) fought back from a deficit to win the second set and never trailed in the decisive fourth set.

Melissa Burch added 10 kills, hitting .500, while Kirstee Rotty and Kristin Boyum had 18 and 17 digs in the victory.

The match was the Oles' fifth straight against a team ranked in the top 14 in the country.

Katie Bonine had 17 kills to lead UST (5-3, 0-1 MIAC).
