Thomas More Defeats Thiel, 3-1, to Win Second Straight PAC Title

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The top-seeded Thomas More College volleyball team defeated second-seeded Thiel College, 3-1, today (Saturday, November 6, 2010) in the championship match of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 28-7 and earns the PAC's automatic bid to the 2010 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship.  The brackets for the NCAA Championship will be announced at approximately 11 a.m. on Monday (November 8) on the NCAA's Championship website (www.ncaa.com).  With the loss, the Tomcats fall to 22-12.

Thomas More won the match by the scores of 20-25, 25-13, 25-14 and 25-16.  Senior outside hitter Alyssa Carlotta (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon) led five Saints with double-digit kills with 20.  Also with double-digit kills was junior outside hitter Brandi Corbello (Florence, Ky./Boone County) with 12 and senior outside hitter Kelsie Rust (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton), junior middle blocker Katie Sullivan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) and sophomore outside hitter Aimee Ryan (Taylor Mill, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) with 11 each.  Junior setter Michelle Clifford (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) paced the offense with 31 assists, while sophomore setter Tori Verville (Edgewood, Ky./Holy Cross) finished with 23.

Defensively, junior defensive specialist Emily Bohman (Yorkshire, Ohio/Versailles) led the team with 23 digs.  Also with double-digit digs in the match was Clifford with 18, junior outside hitter Tara Enzweiler (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) with 14 and Verville with 12.
