Pointers Fall to Pioneers, 3-1

STEVENS POINT- The UW-Stevens Point women’s volleyball
team closed out its 2010 regular season with a 3-1 loss to
UW-Platteville Wednesday at the Berg Gynasium.
After falling in the opening game 23-25, the Pointers won game two
by a score of 25-20 in game two. The Pointers then dropped the
final two games, 25-21 and 25-17.
Leading the way for the Pointers was Christina
Brinkman with 13 kills. Senior Kaitlyn Wolfe also had a
good match, finishing with 12 kills and leading the team with 15
digs.
Cassidy Kohlhaugen led the team in assists with 34 and four other
Pointers finished with double digit digs.
The Pointers did advance to the WIAC Tournament where they earned
the fifth seed, winning a tiebreaker over UW-River Falls and UW-La
Crosse. They will take on UW-Whitewater in their first WIAC
Tournament game.
