Vassar Upended By Strong Williams Squad, 3-0

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA (September 14, 2010) – Facing one of the
best offenses it has seen this year, the Vassar College
women’s volleyball team lost to a strong Williams College
team, 25-13, 25-12, 25-19, on Tuesday night.
Vassar (3-4) next travels to Union on Friday and Saturday for its
annual Invitational. The Brewers will face Elms at 4:00 pm and SUNY
Oswego at 6:00 pm on Friday. Williams improves to 3-2 on the season
and plays at Connecticut College on Saturday at 6:00 pm.
Williams broke out to comfortable wins in the first two sets, but
the Brewers came alive in the third set. Vassar had the third set
tied at 7-7. The Brewers trailed 14-12 and 18-15 in the final set
before Williams was able to close out the match.
Sophomore Chloe
McGuire led Vassar with nine kills. Junior Amy
Bavosa chipped in with seven kills. Sophomore setter
Hilary
Koenigs had 24 set assists and both McGuire and senior
libero Chelsea Motern had 10 digs each.
