Paxton Thornton's 18 kills and three blocks lead WestConn over EastConn, 3-1

WILLIMANTIC, CT (Oct. 5) — Sophomore Paxton Thornton (Sharon, CT) recorded 18 kills and three blocks to lead the Western Connecticut State University volleyball team over instate and Little East Conference rival Eastern Connecticut Tuesday evening.

Western Connecticut outscored Eastern 8-1 early in the important third set on the way to a 25-21 win and a 3-1 victory in the Little East Conference match. The win is the third straight for Western over Eastern. The Colonials wrapped up the victory by scoring the final five points of the final set. Western was ranked No. 2in the LEC pre-season poll, ECSU No. 6.
