Meredith selected to lead WLC volleyball
MILWAUKEE -- Wisconsin Lutheran College assistant
volleyball coach Bruce Meredith has been selected to replace Diana
Balsiger as the ninth head coach in program history, athletics
director Skip Noon announced Thursday.
"I am both excited and honored to be named the new head coach at
WLC," says Meredith. "The administration and student-athletes here
are outstanding and I couldn't ask for a better environment in
which to continue my coaching career. This is a great opportunity
and I can't wait to get to work."
Meredith, who joined the WLC coaching staff in 2009, replaces
Balsiger as the team's head coach after she spent one season (2009)
as head coach and four (2005-08) as an assistant. Meredith brings a
wealth of volleyball experience to the WLC staff, which includes
over 200 wins while coaching at the high school and club
levels.
Since 2001, Meredith has been involved with the North Shore
Milwaukee Volleyball Club where he currently serves as assistant
director and head coach of the girls' 18 club team.
From 2002-08, Meredith served as an assistant coach for the boys'
varsity volleyball team at Nicolet High School in Glendale, Wis. He
helped the Knights to a runner-up performance at the 2008 WIAA
Boys' State Volleyball Tournament. Prior to 2002, Meredith began
his coaching career as an assistant girls' volleyball coach at
Pacelli High School in Stevens Point, Wis.
Meredith graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point
in 1994 with a bachelor of science degree. He was a four-time
All-Wisconsin Volleyball Conference performer as an outside hitter
for the UWSP men's volleyball team and was named the conference's
MVP in 1992.
Meredith, who also works with USA Volleyball's High Performance
Program at both the local and national levels, lettered in multiple
varsity sports, including basketball and track & field while
attending Northwestern Preparatory School in Watertown, Wis.
A member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA),
Meredith was born May 27, 1969. He currently resides in Milwaukee
where he is employed as an IT manager.
