2011 Volleyball All-Ohio Athletic Conference Teams and Special Awards

Heidelberg’s Miller Named OAC Coach-of-the-Year


Heidelberg 12th-year Head Coach Jason Miller has been chosen by his colleagues as the 2011 OAC Coach-of-the-Year. The Berg earned the conference’s NCAA automatic bid by virtue of winning the OAC Regular-Season title with a perfect 9-0 (31-6) record and advancing to the championship match of the league tournament. This is the third time Miller has received this honor.


Heidelberg’s Reinhart Named OAC Sheila Wallace-Kovalchik Player-of-the-Year


Heidelberg senior outside hitter Jackie Reinhart (New Riegel) has been chosen by the league coaches as the 2011 Sheila Wallace-Kovalchik Player-ofthe-Year for the second consecutive time.  Prior to the OAC Tournament, Reinhart averaged 2.35 kills and 3.90 digs-per game with a .260 hitting percent. Reinhart helped lead Heidelberg to the OAC Regular-Season title, an appearance in the OAC Tournament finals and the Conference’s NCAA automatic bid.
Reinhart also earned Freshman-of-the-Year honors in 2008 and has received First Team All-OAC honors for the second time.


Otterbein’s Piper Named OAC Freshman-of-the-Year


Otterbein freshman setter Tabatha Piper (Sunbury/Big Walnut) has been chosen by the league coaches as the 2011 OAC Freshman-of-the-Year. At the end of the regular-season, Piper was ranked at the top of the conference with a .345 hitting percent and ranked second in assists-per-game with 10.24. Piper helped the Cardinals to the OAC Tournament semifinals as the No. 2 seed.  She is the second Cardinal to earn this honor and has been named Second Team All-OAC.

Otterbein’s Russell Named OAC Witte-Zicha Libero-of-the-Year


Otterbein senior Lindsey Russell (Dublin/Jerome) was selected by the league coaches as the 2011 OAC Libero-of-the-Year. At the close of the regular-season, Russell led the OAC with 5.79 digs-per-game. Russell helped the Cardinals to an appearance in the OAC Tournament semifinals as the No. 2 seed.  Russell is the first Cardinal to garner this honor and has earned First Team All-OAC honors.
