Auggies fall to Cobbers in three

MOORHEAD, Minn.-- Katelyn Berens (SO, Jordan, Minn./Prior Lake HS) recorded 24 digs, but the Augsburg College volleyball team dropped a three-set match to first-place Concordia College, 25-18, 25-18 25-14, Wednesday evening at Memorial Auditorium.

Augsburg (14-10, 6-4 MIAC) was unable to overcome 23 attack errors and a.031 hitting percentage against the Cobbers (22-3 overall, 9-1 MIAC) who are currently in a tie for first-place in the conference race. The loss drops Augsburg into a tie for fifth-place in the conference standings and means the Auggies will be seeded fifth or sixth in the upcoming MIAC playoffs.

Emily McCourt (SO, Sun Prairie, Wis.) recorded 24 assists and seven digs for Augsburg in the loss, while Nikolene Miller (JR, Tomahawk, Wis.) and Colleen Ourada (SO, Omaha, Neb./Mercy HS) recorded six kills each.

Maggie Zirk (JR, Dassel, Minn./Dassel-Cokato HS) added five kills for Augsburg, while Micha Sater (JR, Fridley,Minn./Centennial HS) recorded three kills and five digs.

Augsburg will close out the regular season this weekend, with the teams' final home match of the season against Hamline University Friday evening, followed by two non-conference games Saturday in Mankato, Minn. against UMAC opponents Minnesota-Morris and Bethany Lutheran. Friday nights home match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
