Colorado College continues run in NCAA Tournament
Colorado College continues its run in the NCAA Division III
Volleyball Tournament by beating Occidental College in five sets,
18-25, 25-17, 25-18, 23-25, 15-13, during the second round of
regional action on Saturday afternoon in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
The Tigers' next match will take place on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
(PT) against host California Lutheran University. California
Lutheran swept Chapman University, 25-21, 26-24, 25-22 during the
second match of regional play.

Schornack and junior Laura
Goldsmith each had a double-double for the second time
during the tournament. Schornack led the Tigers with 47 assists and
dug up 16 digs, while Goldsmith had a team-high 17 kills and added
23 digs to lead the defense.
Sophomore Devin
Wilkinson led CC at the net with six blocks and had a
team-high .520 hitting percentage on a career-high 15 kills.
Colorado College fell behind early in the first set, 3-6, but
scored the next three points to knot the set at 6-6. Occidental was
able to retake the lead and did not surrender it to go up one set
to none.
The top-seeded Tigers proved their worth with a comeback in the
second set to tie the game at one set apiece. With the set tied at
eight all, CC scored 10 of the next 13 points to take a six-point
advantage and continued its run to win the set.
Colorado College carried its momentum into the third set, hitting
a match-high .314 attack percentage on 13 kills to take a 2-1 lead
over Occidental.
Down 14-18 in the fourth set, the Tigers went on a 6-2 run to tie
the set at 20-20. Occidental went on 5-3 run to win the set and tie
the game at two sets apiece.
CC took an early 5-4 lead in the fifth set, but Occidental came
back to take a 9-8 lead. The Tigers fought back with a 3-0 run to
take an 11-9 lead and was able to hold on to their lead to earn the
victory over Occidental.
Colorado College improved its record to 33-6 this season, while
Occidental finished with a 23-8 record.
