ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Christopher Newport University
volleyball squad improved to 24-4 overall and 14-0 in USA South
action with a 3-0 win over N.C. Wesleyan. The Captains were led by
Bailey
Jensen and Cory
Harris with 13 kills each.
Set scores for the match were 25-17, 25-17 and 25-11. The Captains
had a .317 team hitting percentage while holding N.C. Wesleyan to
.098.
Junior Alyssa
Kidd had 35 of the Captains' 45 assists and also added a
service ace two digs and two blocks. Jensen led the team with an
impressive .684 hitting percentage. Along with 13 kills she added
an ace, five digs and three blocks.
Senior Jessie
Heavenrich led the team with two service aces. Junior
Abby
Hogge led with 14 digs while Harris and freshman Jessie
Kolden each had 11.
N.C. Wesleyan was led by Anna Hart with eight kills and also three
blocks. Mackenzie tingle had 18 assists and Shana Ayers totaled 19
digs.
The Captains return to action Saturday October 22 as they host
Washington & Lee at 4:00pm.
