Cabrini Draws Juniata in NCAA 1st Round for 3rd Straight Year

NCAA Volleyball Tournament Bracket
ASTON, Pa. – For the third consecutive year, the
Cabrini College volleyball team will face Juniata College in the
first round of the NCAA Tournament. The match will be played
at Neumann University on Friday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m.
The Blue and White captured its third NCAA Tournament berth in
school history with a 3-0 win in the Colonial States Athletic
Conference championship game on Saturday. Junior outside
hitter Danielle
Carrozza was named most valuable player.
Carrozza paced a balanced attack with 12 kills and 16 digs.
Senior Alexis
Doss recorded a match-high 13 kills, including the 1000th
kill of her career. Junior Megan
Ryan also added 12 kills. Sophomore setter Alaina
Clark added 37 assists, while sophomore libero Sophia
Sokolovich notched a match-high 17 digs.
Cabrini enters the tournament with a 22-10 record and winners of
15 of its last 17 matches.
Carrozza leads the Cavaliers with 397 kills on the season and
leads the CSAC with 3.75 kills per set. Doss' 288 kills rank
second on the team and her 3.03 kills per set are good for fourth
in the conference. The Cavaliers also boast four of the
top 10 hitting percentages in the conference in Michele
Fitz (#1 - .369), Carrozza (#3 - .298), Doss (#7 - .272)
and Ryan (#9 - .243).
Sokolovich leads the CSAC with 569 digs, while Clark ranks second
in the conference with 8.48 assists per set.
The Eagles advanced to the NCAA Tournament after defeating
Susquehanna University 3-1 for their 31st consecutive Landmark
Conference championship.
The Cabrini-Juniata match is one of three to be played at
Neumann. In the day's first match at 12:30 p.m., Mt.
Union College (24-7) will face Lebanon Valley College. At
5:30 p.m., Stevenson University (31-3) and Hiram College
(26-8) will play. The nightcap features the pod's number one
seed, Eastern University (32-2) facing Penn State-Altoona (18-11)
at 8:00 p.m.
The regional semifinals will be played on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
and 6:00 p.m. with the final to take place at 4:00 p.m. on
Sunday.
