#11 Carthage Opens 2011 Season with Wins over St. Benedict and #20 UW-Eau Claire
The Carthage College women's
volleyball team (2-0, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and
Wisconsin), ranked 11th in the pre-season American Volleyball
Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, opened its 2011 season
on Friday, Sept. 2 with a pair of wins at the Wisconsin-Eau Claire
“Labor Day Classic” at the McPhee Physical Education
Center in Eau Claire, Wis.
Carthage swept the College of St. Benedict (0-1), 3-0, before
defeating No. 20 Wisconsin-Eau Claire (1-1), 3-1. The Lady
Reds' winning set scores over the Blazers were 25-20, 25-22 and
25-23, and their winning scores over the Blugolds were 25-16,
25-15, 20-25 and 25-11. On Saturday, Sept. 3, the Lady
Reds face Lawrence University (0-2) at 10 a.m. and Concordia
College (Moorhead, 2-0) at 12:15 p.m.
