Pam Hoerup Garners 200th Career Victory as Cortland Sweeps Plattsburgh and Potsdam
ONEONTA, N.Y. – Seventh-year head coach Pam
Hoerup earned her 200th career victory as the nationally
20th-ranked Cortland volleyball team swept Plattsburgh and
Potsdam during day two of the SUNYAC East Round Robin hosted
by SUNY Oneonta. The Red Dragons opened the day by defeating
Plattsburgh, 25-11, 25-20, 25-13, and delivered Hoerup's 200th win
by downing Potsdam, 25-22, 25-13, 25-13, in their second match of
the day. Hoerup's overall record now stands at 200-63 (.760), while
Cortland has run its record to 17-0 overall this season and
finished pool play with a 4-0 mark.
In the win against Plattsburgh, senior Ashley
Coyle (Mt. Hope/Minisink Valley) recorded 14 kills and 11
digs, junior Katie
Wick (Cortland/Homer) registered 21 digs and junior
setter Kristen
Guercio (Smithtown/Smithtown East) added 34 assists and
nine digs. Senior Jaclyn
Lawrence (Marilla/Iroquois Central) contributed 15 digs,
sophomore Krissy
Silk (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) collected 10 digs,
junior Natalie
Zacpal (Islip) had eight kills and senior Kaitlyn
Cooper (Webster/Webster Schroeder) chipped in with six
kills.
Guercio recorded 30 assists and eight digs in the victory over
Potsdam. Wick contributed eight kills, two aces and 15 digs, Coyle
had six kills, three aces and nine digs and sophomore Aubrey
Barrett (Liverpool) registered six kills.
Another divisional pool play will be held Oct. 21-22 at
Plattsburgh, and the top three teams in the division will advance
to the SUNYAC tournament along with the top three West teams Nov.
3-5 at the East champion.
