Christina Gilene of Wittenberg Named D3VB Player of the Week

Secaucus, NJ (September 5, 2011) - Junior Libero Christina Gilene (Milford, OH) of #5 Wittenberg has been named the first ever D3VB Player of the Week.  Gilene helped her squad go 3-0 at the Wittenberg National Invitational, including wins over #2 Emory and #6 Juniata.

Gilene, a 2010 Honorbale Mention All-Region pick, picked up 66 digs over the weekend for an average of six per set.  She surpassed the 1,000 dig mark for her career in the Friday matchup with Emory when she recorded one of her 27 digs.

Gilene and fellow teammate Katie Sumner were both named to the All-Tournament Team.  Wittenberg is back in action on Friday at 7:30pm at the Charlie Wrublewski Tournament hosted by Mt. St. Joseph.  They take on the host school in that matchup.

The D3VB Player of the Week award is sponsored by Worldwide Sport Supply.
