Nationwide Top-Performers and Three-Time Award Winners Highlight ECAC Division III Upstate/Metro Volleyball All-Stars
CENTERVILLE, Mass. -- Richard Stockton junior middle hitter Stephanie Warner earned the offensive player of the year award to lead the 2011 Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Upstate/Metro Volleyball All-Stars, released Thursday. Baruch senior libero Posey Wilson was named the ECAC Defensive Player of the Year, as Nazareth freshman middle blocker Maria Alloco was voted the ECAC Rookie of the Year. The All-Star teams were decided by coaches or their designee within the Division III membership.
Warner became the first Richard Stockton player in program history to earn a non-honorable mention All-America selection from the American Volleyball Coaches’ Association (AVCA), earning second-team honors. The two-time All-New York Region selection and New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Player of the Year led the nation in hitting percentage (.468), finished second in the NJAC in blocks per set (0.83) and sixth in kills per set (2.48). The junior led the Ospreys to their fourth consecutive league championship and NCAA Division III tournament berth.
The three-time City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Libero of the Year, Wilson averaged 4.62 digs per set in 2011, finishing with 481 total to lead the Bearcats to the conference championship. In her four years in a Baruch uniform, the senior surpassed 2,000 career digs, finishing her career with 2,038.
Alloco led Nazareth in kills (268) and kills per set (2.09), earning the AVCA New York Region Freshman of the Year award along with an honorable mention on the all-region team.
