Maneggia Named Interim Coach at Eastern Connecticut State
WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- Peter Maneggia has been named part-time interim head women's volleyball coach at Eastern Connecticut State University, as announced by interim Director of Athletics Michael Stenko.
Having served as assistant coach the past three seasons, Maneggia returns for his fourth season in the program in 2011. An Andover resident, Maneggia replaces Fran Vandermeer, who has resigned her part-time head coach position after one year in order to accept a full-time collegiate head women's volleyball coaching position.
In addition to his volleyball duties, Maneggia will maintain his part-time assistant coaching position in the Eastern softball program, where he is in his fourth season.
Maneggia brings more than 20 years of coaching experience to the
program, with previous head softball coaching jobs at Division I
College of Holy Cross and Division III St. Joseph's College of
Hartford. He also was an assistant at Division I Central
Connecticut State University and at Division III Trinity College,
under Vandermeer, and served for one year as assistant at Eastern
under former head softball coach Tom York. Maneggia has also
coached at the high school level, with tenures at Coventry High
School and Griswold High School.
Maneggia is a 1988 graduate of Southern New Hampshire University
with a B.S. Degree in Human Service Administration.
Eastern, which has qualified for 16 NCAA Division III volleyball tournaments - the most among all New England institutions - graduated four seniors from last year's 13-15 team.
