Green Mountain Tabs Eno to Lead Softball & Volleyball Programs

Poultney, VT - Green Mountain College Director of Athletics, Marybeth Lennox is pleased to announce the hiring of Erica Eno as the new head coach of the GMC women's volleyball and softball teams. "We're very excited to add Erica to our coaching staff," said Lennox. "Throughout the search process, Coach Eno showed the leadership qualities we value, and her wealth of experience and knowledge made her an excellent fit for the softball and women's volleyball programs. Erica's competitive fire, combined with a passion for helping her student-athletes develop into well rounded people impressed us, and we are confident she will help our young people have outstanding collegiate experiences."

Eno comes to Green Mountain after serving as the assistant women's softball coach at Fairleigh Dickinson University at Florham. "I'm very excited to have an opportunity to join the athletic department at Green Mountain College," Eno said. Adding, "I like the area, and my time on campus showed me how welcoming the Green Mountain campus community is. The challenge of building both programs so they can compete at the top of the North Atlantic Conference is one I am eager to begin."

Eno earned Bachelor's degrees in Sport Management and Health and Physical Education at Virginia Intermont College, where she was also a dual sport athlete in softball and soccer.  After her playing career at VIC, Eno went straight into coaching, serving as the assistant women's softball coach at her alma mater for two seasons.

In 2008, she moved on to Emory and Henry College where she served as the assistant women's volleyball and softball coach. At Emory and Henry, Erica gained outstanding experience on the rigors of recruiting at the Division III level. "I gained great experience at Emory and Henry learning how to recruit for both volleyball and softball at the Division III level," said Eno. "Recruiting is different at every level, and as a Division III coach you need to be able to show prospective student-athletes the value of your institution's degree. Green Mountain College is an institution that provides a high quality academic experience, and when you add in the warmth of the people on campus it's a place lots of prospective student-athletes should aspire to attend."

Her former head softball coach at Emory and Henry, Kristen Diamond, thinks Erica will be a great fit for Green Mountain. "Erica brings such positive energy to teaching young people, I think she'll do a fantastic job. Erica firmly believes in the maxim that 'your players need to work with you, not for you' and that attitude really shapes the positive impact she has on the student-athletes she coaches. Her experience at multiple levels of collegiate coaching has given her the chance to see how different coaches operate. She's a bright young coach, who will take things from everyone she's worked under and put them into a plan that will fit her style and her programs."

Eno will start at Green Mountain on December 5th and she can't wait, "I want to hit the ground running. I can't wait to get to campus, start getting to know both teams, and have them get to know me."
