Geneseo Wins Bomber Invitational
Senior Kat Strickland (pictured below) earned Most Valuable Player honors after leading the Geneseo women's volleyball team to the championship of the Ithaca Invitational as the Blue Knights defeated the host Bombers and St. John Fisher on Saturday. After winning a pair of matches on Friday, Strickland pounded 16 kills with five blocks in a 25-12, 25-18, 22-25, 20-25, 17-15 win over Ithaca. Sophomore Noelle Morrison handed out 43 assists, classmate Alex Wende had 11 kills and junior All-tournament team selection Laura Galvin totaled 27 digs. In the second match, Geneseo captured a five-set victory for the third match in a row, 19-25, 29-27, 22-25, 25-20, 15-13 over St. John Fisher. Wende led the way with 19 kills, Galvin had 27 digs and Strickland contributed 13 kills. First year Julia Gangloff dished out 36 assists, junior Megan Reed had 11 kills and sophomore Ronnie Guszcza added 10 kills. Geneseo is 7-2 on the season and hosts Rochester on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
