Hunter Stuns NYU In Four Sets

NEW YORK, NY - The Hunter College women's volleyball team defeated host NYU in four sets at the first round of the NYU Violet Classic.

The Hawks won the first set 26-24. After losing the second set 17-25, Hunter rallied back to win the third and fourth sets 25-23 and 27-25.

It is the Hawks seventh straight victory and their first victory over NYU since 1993. The Violets advanced to the “Elite Eight” of the NCAA Division III Championship last season and were ranked #21 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Top 25 Preseason Poll.

Hunter (8-3, 4-0 CUNYAC) faces Gettysburg College at 6:00pm in the second round.
