Peluso Hired as New LeTourneau Volleyball Coach

Scott Peluso has been named head volleyball coach at LeTourneau University, athletic Director Terri Deike announced this week.

Peluso spent last season as an assistant coach at the University of Denver. Before helping the Pioneers reach the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, Peluso spent two seasons at Colorado Christian University as the top assistant and ended his tenure as the interim head coach. At CCU, he was the recruiting coordinator and was responsible for the Cougars setters, offensive system, fitness program, team travel, camps, community outreach, scheduling and academic standards. He also spent 3 seasons as the assistant coach at Colorado School of Mines where he was responsible for recruiting several All Conference players and helping Lead the Orediggers to the best record in school history and their first ever NCAA tournament appearance.

Before hitting the college ranks, Peluso was also a successful high school and club coach in Colorado. He led Chatfield Senior High School's, his alma mater, volleyball team to their first league championship in 14 seasons and was named Jefferson County Coach of the Year. In the club ranks, he lead two 18-and under teams to top ten regional finishes in the tough Rocky Mountain Region of USA Volleyball.

Peluso played for the Colorado State University men's club team and finished his career at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego. He played outside hitter before making the transition to setter his senior year and was one of the top setters in his league that included club teams from USC, Biola, and San Diego State.

"I am extremely excited to be a part of LeTourneau athletics and am grateful to Athletic Director Deike for this opportunity," Peluso said. "I am looking forward to the challenge of building a competitive volleyball program that embodies the mission of the university and represents the athletic department in the conference, the region and the community."

Peluso will take over the head coaching duties from interim head coach Michele Rosen, who will return to her role as an assistant coach. A graduate student at LeTourneau, Rosen assumed head coaching duties in time for American Southwest Conference play and led the team to a 7-10 league record – its best mark since joining the ASC in 1998. The Jackets finished the year with an overall record of 13-15.

Peluso is a native of Denver, Colorado. He graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University with a B.A. in Biology and has a Master's degree in Sports Psychology from Capella University. He is joined in Longview by his wife Joanna and his daughter Sarah.
