Rob Frost named Head Volleyball Coach at Mary Hardin-Baylor
Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor has
hired Rob Frost as the school's new Head Volleyball Coach, Cru
Vice-President for Athletics Ben Shipp announced today. Frost
will begin his duties on February 16th.
Frost comes to UMHB from NCAA Division I Bowling Green State
University, where he has served as an assistant coach for the
Falcons volleyball team for the last four seasons. Frost has helped
lead Bowling Green to a 67-63 record, a pair of 20+ win seasons and
three Mid-American Conference Tournament appearances in his four
years with the Falcons. Frost spent the 2006 season as the head
volleyball coach at Belhaven College prior to joining the Bowling
Green coaching staff. Frost led Belhaven to a 25-11 record and a
Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament title in his one season
with Blazers. Frost has also served as an assistant coach at
Division I Cleveland State University, Taylor University and Moody
Bible Institute. Cleveland State posted a 34-23 record during
Frost's two seasons on campus, Taylor went 33-15 in his one season
and Moody Bible Institute posted a 27-11 mark and won the NCCAA
Division II Midwest Region Championship during his tenure.
“I am excited and feel blessed to be a part of such a great
University. Ben Shipp is a great leader with
great vision for the athletic teams at UMHB,” Frost said.
“In every way I feel coaching at UMHB is a great fit for me
and is where God wants to put my ability to work. I cannot wait to
get in the gym and start training the team. I know the players here
are excited and ready for our spring workouts! UMHB is in a great
area for recruiting, the volleyball talent in Texas is very good.
It is going to be very exciting recruiting and coaching here! I
knew right away UMHB is a special place that would be easy to
invest myself in and believe in.”
Frost is a 1999 graduate of Moody Bible Institute, earning a degree
in Education and Youth Ministry. He completed his Master's Degree
in Sports Management at Cleveland State University in 2005.
“I am really excited about the set of qualifications Rob
brings to the job,” Shipp said. “As an assistant coach
and as a head coach, he has seen success everywhere he has been.
His expertise in recruiting, skill development and
nutrition/strength training, should be a great combination for our
volleyball program.”
“I was instantly attracted to the genuine friendliness of
everyone I met on campus,” Frost said. “The campus is
beautiful and athletic facilities are first class, it is obvious
UMHB has a strong commitment to running a high quality athletic
program. There is a strong sense of pride in UMHB that I could feel
from everyone I met during my visit. The desire to have every team
at the top of the conference is something that really stood out to
me.”
Frost replaces Kecia Davis as head coach of the UMHB volleyball
program. He takes over a team that could return as many as 15
letter winners and five starters from a squad that went 10-21
overall and 4-13 in American Southwest Conference play last
season.
