Mount Union Impressive in OAC Road Victory
ADA, Ohio—The Mount Union volleyball team defeated Ohio Northern in straight sets to win their first Ohio Athletic Conference match of the year away from Alliance and remain unbeaten in conference play. In doing so, the Purple Raiders (16-4, 3-0 OAC) defeated the Polar Bears in Ada for the first time in program history.
The Purple Raiders dominated the first set to set the tone for their 25-9, 25-20, 25-21 decision. Taylor Webb (Geneva/Geneva) had a team-best 17 kills while Maya Brown (Tiffin/Tiffin Columbian) added nine kills. Julie Radigan (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) had 37 assists. Kristen Gromes (Navarre/Fairless) led the Purple Raiders with 12 digs, followed by Webb and Christine Frazier (Westerville/Westerville North) had seven digs apiece.
Ohio Northern was led by Cenzie Yoder with seven kills, Hannah English with 10 assists, and Jeni Kmic with 17 digs. The Polar Bears dropped to 8-10 overall and 1-1 in OAC play.
Mount Union will travel to Bluffton next Saturday for a pair of non-conference matches with Earlham (Ind.) and host Bluffton.
