Bethany Ends Pacers Season in ECAC Quarterfinals

Bethany, WV – Second seed Bethany College defeated visiting
Marywood University in three games in an Eastern States Athletic
Conference (ECAC) South Region quarterfinal volleyball match on
Wednesday evening. The Bison improve to 27-6 on the season
while the Pacers end the 2011 campaign with a 17-12 mark.
Bethany advanced the ECAC semifinals after wins of 25-14, 25-11,
and 25-12 over Marywood, who was making their first-ever appearance
in the ECAC Tournament.
The Bison were paced by Carrie Talkington's 16 kills while Taylor
Cassidy added 11 kills in the win. Jessica Zavatchen recorded
a match-best 46 assists and Tiffany Hoffman led all players with 20
digs on the night.
Ashley
Zalewski, Erica
Krakosky, and Sara Melick
recorded four kills apiece to lead Marywood. Alyssa
Hartranft dished out a team-leading 16 assists and
Rachel
Tollett led the Pacers with 16 digs. Zalewski also
tied for a match-high with two service aces in the loss.
Wednesday's contest was the last match in a Marywood uniform for
seniors Emily
Fillman and Kim
Lope.
