Olivet loses in three sets to Trine 25-21, 25-17, 25-17

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College volleyball team lost in three sets to Trine (Ind.) University tonight inside The Cutler Event Center in Olivet. The Thunder won the first set 25-21 and then won the last two sets by identical 25-17 scores.

Sophomore Tina Westendorp (Nashville/Maple Valley) led Olivet's front row with eight kills, followed by junior Kristen Sharpley (Marshall) with six and sophomore Shelby Mitchell (Pinckney) with five. Freshman Taylor Pringle (Haslett) dished out 19 assists. Sophomore libero Kaitlyn Salhaney (Caledonia/East Kentwood) finished with a team-high 12 digs, while Westendorp joined her in double digits with 10 digs.

The Comets will now take a break from Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, when they participate in the Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament at Indiana Tech. On Friday, Olivet plays Indiana University-East at 11 a.m., and Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University at 3 p.m. Saturday's opponents and match times will be determined after Friday's matches.
