Anderson Joins Saints Volleyball Staff

Melissa Anderson, a former volleyball standout at Northland College in Ashland, WI, has joined the St. Lawrence University athletic staff as the assistant coach of the volleyball program.

"I am extremely excited to welcome Melissa to our volleyball program and to the St. Lawrence community," said Saints Head Coach Shelly Roiger.  "Having coached Melissa during most of her collegiate career, I know that she is a great addition to our volleyball family and her knowledge of the game, work ethic, personality, and ‘refuse to lose' mentality will contribute to our mission of continued improvement within our program."

During her four-year career with the LumberJills, Anderson garnered a host of awards and accomplishments, including being named to the All-UMAC First Team in 2006 and 2009 (Honorable Mention, 2007, 2008).   A three-year captain, she helped guide her team to a 2007 UMAC Tournament championship.  The Brooklyn Park, MN native surpassed the 1000th kill and 1000th dig marks as a junior and finished her career with 1,278 and 1,548, respectively.

A 2010 graduate, Anderson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education with minors in social studies and psychology.  She returned to her alma mater after graduating to serve as the assistant volleyball coach, while also working as a second grade teacher in the Washburn school district. Anderson also served as the interim head coach of the LumberJills from February to June 2011.
