Trinity Volleyball Edges Concordia in Five Sets
San Antonio - The Trinity Tiger volleyball team fought its way to a 21-25, 25-15, 25-17, 16-25, 15-7 victory over the Concordia Tornados Thursday night.
Trinity won its fifth straight match and improved to 14-12 on
the season. The Tigers matched their longest win streak of the
campaign, when they recorded a 5-0 record at the beginning of the
year.
The Tigers took a 2-1 lead in sets, after hitting .414 in the
third stanza. But Concordia took the fourth set, leading by as many
as 10 points. Trinity, which hit .357 in the fifth set, led 10-5
and won five of the next seven points to close out the match.
Bridget Bohman capped off the match-up with a kill shot on the
line.
A Trinity trio registered double figures in the kills
category: Catharine Found (13), Maddy Hazelwood (12), and
Maggie Emodi (10), while Bohman contributed eight.
Hazelwood, who led the match with eight blocks, hit .435 (12
kills, two errors, 23 total attempts). Found had a strong hitting
percentage as well with .379 (13 kills, two errors, 29 total
attempts).
Meredith Erwin led the pack in digs with 21, and Emodi had 13.
Maryn Swierc, who shelled out 39 assists and two aces, picked up 11
digs, and Bohman had 10.
The Tigers will compete in the Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference West Divisional No. 2 Tournament Oct. 21-22
(Friday-Saturday) at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.
Trinity (6-5 SCAC) takes on Dallas at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 to open the
event. The Tigers then meet Austin College at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 22,
and Southwestern, ranked seventh nationally, at 6 p.m.
Trinity wraps up its regular-season home schedule by hosting
Schreiner at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26.
