Texas-Dallas Splits Opening Day At Southwestern
GEORGETOWN, TX (10.28.11) - The UT Dallas
volleyball team kickoff of the Southwestern Halloween
Tournament Friday with a split, downing Trinity in five games
before falling in three sets to the host Pirates.
UTD 3, Trinity 2 (Box Score to come)
UTD took the opening match against the Tigers, 25-19, before
stumbling in the second set, 25-9, and falling, 25-18, to trail
Trinity, two games to one. But, the Comets rebounded with a 25-17
win in the fourth set and held off the Tigers, 15-13, in the fifth
and final set to pick up the key regional win. UTD improved to 8-0
this season in five-set matches.
Southwestern 3, UTD 0 (Box Score to come)
The Comets couldn't use their momentum after the win over Trinity,
dropping a three-set match to No. 7-ranked and host Southwestern.
The Pirates downed UTD, 25-22, 25-17, 25-17, in the final match of
the night at the event.

The Comets (now 22-5) will wrap up the event Saturday with matches
against Clarkson and St. Thomas. UTD will play Clarkson at 12 p.m.
