Texas-Dallas Opens Challenging ASC Crossover Tourney With Wins Over HPU, McMurry
TYLER, TX (10.07.11) - The UT Dallas volleyball
team began what promises to be a challenging weekend at the
American Southwest Conference's Dig Pink Crossover Tournament with
a pair of victories Friday. UTD defeated Howard Payne in
their opener, 3-1; then went the distance to take a 3-2 decision
from McMurry in the nightcap.
In the opener with Howard Payne, UTD topped the Yellowjackets in
the opener, 25-21, 19-25, 25-19, 25-22. The Comets then had to turn
right around and face 18-1 McMurry University, handing the War
Hawks only their second loss of the season, 25-16, 15-25, 25-20,
23-25, 16-14.
The weekend tournament, featuring matching between ASC East
Division teams against West Division competition, is being held at
the University of Texas at Tyler. All games from this tournament do
count in conference standings.
The Comets (13-3, 9-1 ASC) continue their tournament Saturday
against ASC West leader Hardin Simmons at 10:00 am and
Concordia-Texas at 5:30 pm.
