LEXINGTON, Va. -- Playing in front of a raucous home crowd, the Washington and Lee volleyball team prevailed, 3-1, over Randolph-Macon on Thursday evening in the Warner Center.
In a matchup of the top two team in the ODAC, the Generals (23-2, 8-0) knocked off the Yellow Jackets (16-4, 6-1) 25-23, 26-24, 24-26, 25-21 as W&L won its 10th-straight match and remained atop the conference.
Sophomore outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) paced W&L with a match-high 20 kills and added 14 digs. Senior middle blocker Lindsey Dee (Tallahassee, Fla./Maclay School), playing in her last regular season contest in the Warner Center, had nine kills and seven blocks, including three solo efforts, and sophomore right side Allison Rouse (Troy, Mich./Troy) had nine kills as well.
Senior outside hitter Megan Daily (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) had nine kills as well, to go with seven digs.
Sophomore libero Cameron Hill (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) led the defense with a match-high 22 digs and sophomore setter Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) had 40 assists, nine digs and five blocks.
R-MC was led by junior outside hitter Mallory Carter (Moseley, Va./Cosby), who had 19 kills and 12 digs. Junior outside hitter Jessica Sears (Newport News, Va./Menchville) added nine kills and 19 digs and sophomore libero Marli Dabareiner (Hardy, Va./North Cross School) had 18 digs and first-year setter Bailey Troia (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) had 39 assists.
The Generals return to action on Friday when they travel to Randolph for a 6:30 pm match.
